The tempered glass is produced using specialized heated furnaces, which heat the annealed glass to a uniform temperature of approximately 700ºC. When the glass exits the furnace, it is rapidly cooled. This rapid cooling places the surface of the glass in a state of compression while the central core remains under tension. This compression after thermal treatment gives the tempered glass unique properties such as: a) mechanical strength 4-5 times greater than ordinary glass; b) thermal shock resistance up to 250 °C; c) fragmentation upon breaking.
