Vicrila was founded in 1890 and has been dedicated to the production of tempered shatterproof glass ever since. It is one of the largest glass manufacturers in Europe and is renowned for the quality and durability of its glass. Vicrila has also received numerous awards for its innovative management systems and industrial safety. The company is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 standards. The tempered glass is produced using specialized heated furnaces, which heat the annealed glass to a uniform temperature of approximately 700ºC. When the glass exits the furnace, it is rapidly cooled. This rapid cooling places the surface of the glass in a state of compression while the central core remains under tension. This compression after thermal treatment gives the tempered glass unique properties such as: a) mechanical strength 4-5 times greater than ordinary glass; b) thermal shock resistance up to 250 °C; c) fragmentation upon breaking. It meets safety standards for breakage protection to ensure user safety. This means that if tempered glass breaks, it shatters into small, relatively harmless pieces that are not large or sharp enough to cause serious injury.
